Mulching is the fastest, least expensive, and most eco-friendly way to clear land. The mulch created is beneficial to other trees and reduces erosion. There's no need for dangerous burning or expensive haul-off.
There are so many variables involved with the rate of clearing. including:
We'd love to visit with you either on the phone or on site to get you an accurate estimate of time and cost.
Land clearing is usually one of the first steps in developing a property. Often times you need to remove some of the cedar and brush just to visualize where you new home can be built.
Yes! The mulch we create is very good for the soil. It returns all that organic material back to the soil, reduces erosion immediately, eventually breaks down to enhance the topsoil, and encourages new growth. We have a couple options available to further prepare your soil for immediate planting of grass seed or sod.
Our mulchers are capable of mulching anything organic. We of course mulch cedar primarily, but also mulch mesquite, huisache, youpon, and can even mulch cactus. Keep in mind that cedar will not grow back form the root, but most of these others will. We have options to prevent or reduce regrowth with these species.
Cedar will not grow back from the root, as long as there are no branches left with foliage (needles), which we make sure of because we mulch them flush with the ground. So all the cedar trees we mulch won't grow back. Now, what will probably happen is new seeds will get onto your property, usually transported by wildlife, these seeds will grow new cedars, but they are easily controlled when young.
Rock grinding has become very popular. There's definitely two things we have plenty of in the Hill Country: cedars & rocks! Our rock grinders take surface rocks up to 12" in diameter and grind them into less than 2" sized rocks, all the way down to dust. What you're left with is a mixture of basically road base and topsoil (and mulch can be incorporated too). Rock grinding is a great way to get rid of those big rocks that you trip on and break your mower. If you'd like a quick way to grow grass from seed or sod, rock grinding is a must in the Hill Country.
We offer a wide range of Services, including:
We build ponds/tanks by using heavy equipment like dozers and excavators to shape the pond/tank and improve drainage into it. We then use a proven process to enhance the natural soil/rock with minerals to improve water retention. We'd love to discuss your specific options and provide an estimate for your pond/tank project.
We use a range of equipment. Our smallest mulcher is a 15,000 lb compact track loader with 120 horsepower, but only 4 psi ground pressure thanks to it's wide rubber tracks. This mulcher is safe to drive on all types of driveways, and minimizes ground impact during use. We always walk the property with you prior to starting and identify hazards to avoid, such as: septic systems, underground pipe and wires, etc.
We get often get calls to clean up after the "cheaper" option comes in and mulches cedar with a low horsepower skidsteer that's not designed to mulch. These machines often leave a poor quality mulch that is too big to breakdown, and they leave stumps sticking up, and generally leave a mess.
We use high performance, custom built track loaders and even larger dedicated mulchers. Our smaller mulchers use sharp knives on the mulcher head to reduce the end size of the mulch. These knives are much sharper, but require more maintenance than the more common, more durable, but much more dull carbide teeth that most mulchers use.
We can re-mulch what is already mulched to improve it's quality, or use our rock grinder to reduce the size of mulch, remove stumps, grind rocks, and incorporate all of that into the soil.
